October is Milton at its very best, with the escarpment turning gold, the last of the market season on Main Street, and a full calendar of live music, makers, and Halloween fun. Here’s everything we’re looking forward to this month!
Harvest Season at Springridge Farm
Nothing says October in Milton like a trip to Springridge Farm at 7256 Bell School Line. The farm, Barn Market, and bakery are open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm all month long.
Load up on Farmer John’s famous pumpkins, treat yourself to the seasonal baking, and let the kids loose in the Fun Farmyard with wagon rides and old fashioned farm fun. It’s a fall tradition for a reason, and the perfect backdrop for your family photos.

Pumpkins After Dark
Canada’s largest walk-through pumpkin experience glows all month long! Running September 26 through October 31 at Country Heritage Park, Pumpkins After Dark features more than 10,000 hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns lighting up the night.
This year’s World Tour theme brings brand new displays organized by continent, plus Dracula’s Haunted Castle, a new Bee Hive Maze, and live pumpkin carving demonstrations. Look for special nights throughout the month too: Wednesday Pet Nights, Discount Thursdays, Sunday Theme Nights, and an adults-only night on Thursday, October 15.
Tickets are time-slotted and inventory is limited, so book ahead. Parking is free, and the event runs rain or shine.

Milton Historical Society Ghost Walk
The Milton Historical Society and the Milton Players Theatre Group team up again for a walking tour through historic Milton, with ghostly characters from the 1800s guiding you past the town’s oldest corners and sharing the stories behind them. It is family-friendly, so it is more charming than terrifying.
Tours run one hour and take place on October 21, 22, 23, 29, and 30, with departures at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm each evening. Tickets are $25 for non-members and $22 for members.

Foreign Journey: The Best of Foreigner and Journey
Relive the golden age of arena rock! On Friday, October 9 at 8:00 pm, Foreign Journey takes the stage at the FirstOntario Arts Centre with a high-energy tribute to Foreigner and Journey, delivering hit after hit with soaring vocals and world-class musicianship.
Even better, the show supports the MCRC Infant Food Bank, which provides diapers, formula, and essential supplies to local families. Tickets are $56, and organizers ask that you consider bringing a donation.

Chris Funk: Redefining Wonder
Finally, a magic show with live music! On Sunday, October 25 at 2:00 pm, illusionist Chris Funk brings Redefining Wonder to the FirstOntario Arts Centre for a Sunday matinee the whole family can enjoy.
Chris has pioneered the use of instruments like the violin and guitar in his illusions, weaving music and magic into a multimedia experience that will leave you scratching your head for years to come. Tickets are $49.

Tiny Tots Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Milton
A beloved Halloween tradition returns to Main Street! Every fall, Downtown Milton closes Main St. E. between James and Commercial so costumed little ones can trick-or-treat at the local businesses, complete with a scavenger hunt and prizes.
This year’s date hasn’t been announced yet as of writing, so keep an eye on the Downtown Milton BIA’s website and social media. It typically lands on a Saturday morning in late October, and it fills Main Street with thousands of tiny ghosts, superheroes, and pumpkins.

Halloween Skelebration at Mountsberg
Mountsberg Conservation Area transforms into an illuminated Halloween trail every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from October 2 through October 31, running from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm. It is the season’s biggest family event, and it fills up fast on the weekends closest to Halloween.
Wander themed zones including a graveyard and a pirate ship, meet the Mountsberg raptors and snakes, visit the fortune teller and the haunted barn, warm up at a campfire, and grab something from the food vendors. Wagon rides are available for $6.50 per person on a first-come, first-served basis. Best of all for younger kids, there are no jump scares, though a flashlight is a good idea.

Fall Into Nature and the Kelso Chairlift
Conservation Halton’s Fall Into Nature runs weekends from October 3 to November 1, plus the Thanksgiving long weekend, across Kelso, Mountsberg, Crawford Lake, and Area 8. If you only do one fall thing this year, make it this.
The highlight is the chairlift at Kelso, which carries you up the escarpment for a view over the treetops that you simply cannot get from the trail. It runs from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, and tickets are valid for two trips in any combination of up and down. Riders need to be at least 42 inches tall, and children 10 and under must be with an adult. Chairlift tickets start around $10.50 for adults on top of park admission, with higher rates over Thanksgiving weekend.
Peak colour on the escarpment usually lands in mid-October, so plan accordingly and go early in the day to avoid the parking lineups.

Sustainable Milton hosts this free eco-friendly market on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and it is a lovely place to start your holiday shopping well ahead of the December rush.
Browse one-of-a-kind handmade goods from local artists and artisans, including textiles, jewellery, artwork, home decor, and sourdough. Admission is free, so it is an easy stop even if you;re just looking.
