Knowledge and Learning

Where are we up to these days?

Well, the entire team has been dropping rubber balls!

My friend Gary Meger introduced me to a concept he learned from a coach named Daniel Harkaby.  As the story goes, the former CEO of Coca-Cola had a philosophy about priorities.

Imagine life as a game in which you’re juggling five balls in the air:

Work,

Family,

Health,

Friends,

and Spirit,

and you’re keeping all of these in the air ALL THE TIME.

Understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the four others – Family, Health, Friends and Spirit – are made of glass.

If you drop one of these, it will be scuffed, nicked, damaged, even shattered. And it will never be the same.

It’s important to work efficiently during office hours and then leave on time. Life is about giving proper time to your family and friends, and taking a decent rest.  Which is exactly what most of us have been doing for the last two weeks – taking a break from work and focusing on our glass balls.

Have you dropped any of yours recently?  The New Year is a perfect time to make some changes.
