I got a great email from one of my favourite friends of the show… and the writer made a very valid comment, “if you think the prices up in the $800’s are high, look what the builders are charging!”  Absolutely true.  When you compare it from that perspective, I get it.  But I also think the builders are charging far too much, and I don’t have a very high opinion of most of them anyway. But that’s another story.  🙂

Now, please don’t get me wrong – I am a BIG advocate for the people who do a great job with their home, and I think they deserve to get every last PENNY from it.  Especially when I’m representing them, we fight for the most we can get them.  But it wasn’t long ago (ie last year) when you couldn’t GIVE away a home in the $700k range, never mind even coming close to $800k… that was unheard of.  But I do see signs that things might swing up, like the triple garage that sold on the corner of Main and Scott in the mid-$800’s.  Lovely home… but a horrible location.  Never mind when the traffic lights go up.  So… time will tell I suppose.  In the meantime, I’m going to advise buyers to proceed with caution in the higher price ranges.  🙂
