Almost everyday we get emails from people who want to invest in Milton real estate, and for the most part, we’re not very enthusiastic about the options in town. Values have now risen beyond thresholds of making any monthly profits compared to rents… but there are still some great options a little further away. More to come!

In the meantime, we’ll talk about the financial benefits of a basement apartment in the video. If you are receiving $800/month from a basement suite, what does that mean to you?

There are questions of legality (for example, townhouses are prohibited under current Milton rules for basement apartments), but the truth is many people still choose to rent these areas out, even if they don’t meet all the Town requirements.

I’m not saying you should avoid the rules, because it’s not something that I would do. But the truth is there are many basement apartments out there that do not conform to the specifications of the municipality… but they’ve been rented for years. It’s a complicated issue, and our job as real estate consultants is to provide you with all the information so you can decide for yourself. But that’s another story.
