Knowledge and Learning

I just picked up a book called “The Purple Cow” by Seth Godin.  Although I haven’t read it yet, the premise is simple.

While cows are lovely animals, the problem is that you can see 10, 20 or even 50 of them, and they look pretty much the same wherever you go.  They’re pretty common – new cows look the same as old cows.

But what if one day you saw a PURPLE cow?

That would be something, wouldn’t it?

The reason it would stand out among a lot of perfectly capable and competent cows is because it’s remarkable.

Something remarkable is worth paying attention to, and it’s worth telling other people about.  I’m sure if I ever saw a purple cow in a field, I would probably be jumping at the chance to tell someone about it.

What do you do that’s remarkable?

I think the challenge is to plant a Purple Cow in every aspect of your life – your marriage, your businesses, your friendships… make them stand out and make them special.

It’s a life-changing decision, and on a basic level, it comes down to this:

Either we can be invisible, uncriticized, anonymous, and safe… or we can be a leader and take a chance at true greatness, uniqueness, and the Purple Cow.

Tomorrow, wake up and do something remarkable!
