Buying

We hear people say all the time, “I want to move to Milton because it’s safer than Toronto.”

In fact, we thought the same thing when we moved here.

However a recent study by Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General concluded that in towns with fewer than 100,000 people, the number of serious violent crime charges are up by almost 25 percent since the year 2000.  There’s speculation that a crackdown on guns and gangs in Toronto has forced criminals to migrate to other areas of the province.

FYI, Milton is a very safe town, but it still has problems, albeit few and far between.

It’s important to speak to an expert about the neighbourhood you want to live.  In our experience, lifestyle, comfort and peace of mind are much more important than the typical “3-bed, 2-bath” conversation.
