Flight Over Milton

Welcome back to our 2019 edition of the Flight Over Milton, filmed in May 2019!

In this video, we’ll look at development in the Boyne Survey, including an almost finished Ford neighbourhood, plus some of the new intensification projects and condominiums that are either being built or in various stages of approval.

In the next five years or so, the skyline in Milton will change, with more than 20 mid- and high-rise projects lined up.

As of June 25, 2019, here are some of the projects on the go in Milton.  You can find all of the details on the development applications map:

Under construction:

  1. Bucci Homes – 405-475 Ontario Street South – 151 stacked townhouses
  2. Jasper Condos – 716 Main Street East – 116 units, 12 floor condo apartments
  3. First Line Developments – 80 Bronte Street South – 114 units, 4 floor rental apartments
  4. Mattamy – S/E corner Louis St. Laurent & Leger Way – 251 units, 6 floor condo apartments and condo townhouses
  5. Sutherland – 610 Farmstead Drive – 170 units, 6 floor condo apartments
  6. Fernbrook – 1050 Main Street East – 233 units, 12 floor condo apartments
  7. Victoria Park – 154 Bronte Street South – 24 units, 5 floor rental apartments
  8. Catherton – 70 Ontario Street North – 138 units, 4 floor rental apartments

Total units under construction = 1,197

  1. First Line – 100 Bronte Street South – 40 units, 3 floor rental apartments
  2. Valeri Homes – Costigan & Miller – 105 units, 8 floor condo apartments
  3. Fieldgate – 7480 Derry Road – 191 units, 6 floor condo apartments
  4. Jacal Holdings – 130 Thompson Road South – 802 units, 31, 29, 27 floor condo apartments
  5. Howland Green – 710 Bronte Street South – 132 units, 6 floor condo apartments
  6. Briarwood – S/E corner of Derry & Ontario – 643 units, 25, 20, 16 floor condo apartments

Total units currently approved = 1,913

Initial and filed applications

  1. Manaman – 1050-1090 Bronte Street South – 375 units, 3-6 floor condo apartments and townhouses
  2. Valour – 248-250 Martin Street – 19 units, 3 floor rental apartments
  3. Main Sail – N/E corner of Bronte/Britannia – 272 units, 4-6 floor condo apartments
  4. Vue – 26-60 Bronte Street North – 435 units, 19-21 floor condo apartments
  5. Fernbrook – 101 Nipissing Road – 677 units, 19, 17, 15 floor condo apartments

Total units under consideration by town = 1,718

With an average of 2.4 people per unit, these 4,888 units will allow for 11,731 new residents depending on occupancy.

Plus, the Derry Green Business Park will be bringing more jobs to the community as it begins later this year.  The goal is to have 50% of the people who live in Milton retain jobs within the community.  This will (hopefully) lead to a better quality of life, and less congestion on the roads.

You may have also noticed that one of the new Milton buildings reminds us of a certain spaceship from a certain movie… at least from the sky!

Milton looks completely different from up above… and there’s no better way to fly than with the “John Deere”!
